Two great Rock and Roll Gigs coming right up!

About the band:

Daryl and the Diptones is a group of like minded musicians, some semi-professionals, some professional in more things besides music, and some friends who just want to have fun.

The band was formed over thirty years ago to help raise funds for arts and education groups. And they will consider "rock and rolling" for any event that supports/helps the non-profit community. Private events are welcome, too.

How did the band get it's name?

"So, this is how I remember it.....

A group of us had season tickets to the 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle....it was in the early eighties. We all were fundraising for a variety of local non profits, and we decided to form a garage "Rock and Roll Band" and donate a keg of beer and music as a "party" auction item. Our first gig was auctioned at the BASH (Building a Scholastic Heritage) Event in Tacoma, Washington 1983. After many more auctions, we were hooked!

During our early discussion about our auction item someone said "The band needs a name.". Rick Stockstad was playing a mouth organ with a keyboard called a Dipo-phone... I think! We all said only a "Dip" would play that thing! Someone else said "yeh! DIPTONES" but it should have a name with it as in "Blank and The Diptones"! Under his breath someone else (maybe Laird Brown or Mike Boyd) also said "I've always hated the name "Daryl" ..... and so "Daryl and The Diptones" was launched!
